It was a bit wet here today in Queensland, so I decided to get rid of those cheesey blinkers and tail light. I rang a mate who's a sparky and booked him in for an hour or so of his time. The new tail light is the Lucas style, I had to drill the mud guard, but that was no problem, I intend to chop off about 5 inches in length anyway. The blinkers are the Chrome mini II from BC, the threaded stem on the blinker is 1 1/4 inches long and it protruded to close to my rear tyre so I made a spacer from a 13mm or roughly 1/2 inch garden variety poly pipe connector. I matched these up with the NB front & back relocation brackets, all the wiring info I got off you guys, which made the instillation so much easier, thanks heaps. I'll post some pics of the end job tomorrow :-D

I did mine, except I used the cats eye taillight from BC...I am very happy with the new look. I really wonder what Triumph was thinking with the stock lights...Ugly, and they don't match the bike, in my opinion.....

I love that mean little Bonnie of yours. The lucas light is a big improvement. I think once you get that rear fender chopped down a bit, it will be the perfect Cafe'!

Looks great - good looking bike!

Questions -

Does the new taillight illuminate as brightly as the stock unit? I'm considering putting on the very same unit.

Same question about the turn signals (flashers) - are they good and bright?

Here's why I ask - a riding buddy put some very cool, retro-looking chrome bodied turn signals on his bike - not cheap - and unfortunately, they don't illuminate nearly as brightly as the stock units - I see it as a very real safety concern - if I'm following him and he's slowing to make a turn and we're riding in bright sunlight, they're just hard to see. We use hand signals of course - but I don't think he's helping himself with dim flashers.

Any comments appreciated - thanks.

Bill, I absolutly love the Ace Bars, they scream attitude, I've had them on for about 14 months, no aches or pain. I have mine set so the 'U' section of the bars are at a 90 degree angle to the forks when looked at from side-on. In this position they are a little higher and slightly more forward than clip-ons, I can also turn full lock without hitting the tank

Dee9, thanks also..... re: tail light, I dont think it's as bright as the stock one (sometimes the rider isn't either :???: ).

Unfortunately the turn signals arn't as bright either. With the stock turn signals the globe points forward and is surrounded by a reflective dish, the Mini II's globe and socket lie inside the casing under the lense with no reflective surfaces to enhance and reflect the light to the lense. Consequently, only about 1/2 of the lense is illuminated, therefore they probably would not be considered safe. But I'm going for style as opposed to function. :-D (hence the earlier comment about me and the tail light)

Thanks for the detailed answer re tailight & flashers - makes me appreciate all over again how we're able as individuals to make these beautiful bikes our own.

Here's mine. You can see the turn indicators tucked up behind the shock absorbers. I wanted them to disappear so I used some minis in black...front and rear. It works for me...
