Parts needed are
1"Chrome spacers (5/16 Inside diameter)and chrome lock washers available from http://www.chromebolt.com 2 each plus 2 each 10mm X 1.25 pitch studs about 1" long( I cut mine off of a couple of grade 8.8 bolts and ground of the ends and chased them with a die).

All you have to do is get a 10mm X1.25 tap and thread the spacer all the way through, thread in the stud halfway into the spacer and put it back together with the chrome locknut between the spacer and the mirror so everythig adjusts normally. Don't tighten the mirror all the way get it close then spin the stock threaded collar up to tighten it and everything will adjust as before. The whole thing cost less than 10 bucks.

Here are a couple of picks if they work.

Good job. I'll do that when I put shorter bars on my America.

Good idea PCRider. I don't need the extra length on my America but maybe I can fix some of the short ones on my other bikes. Oh! I'm glad to somebody has a garage that looks like mine. What kind of machine work are you doing there?

Hey Bryan,

My machining experience is minimal, My son and I somehow struggle through our projects with a little help from some real pros that we know. We have an old Logan metal lathe and the little sherline CNC mill in the picture along with the usual mix of grinders, welders, torches, drill press etc. We just finished re-building a 70 MG for autocross use ( it is not very stock we modified almost everything) and we are currently looking for a british basket case motorcycle for our next project. looks like you had a nice ride with Fatt Ratt. I made it from Port Costa Through Bear Creek to Tilden Park up to Grizzly peak and then on to the little town of Canyon via skyline and pinehurst, then back through Moraga to San Pablo ***** Rd and back through Martinez via Bear Creek again and back home to Port Costa. I turned over my first 1000 miles on the ride. I am slowly getting up to speed so I can go out and ride with others without slowing them down to much. We should all get together for a ride at some point.
