I saw another post on here with directions to build a bike lift, looked neat so I thought I'd give it a shot...Thanks for the link, iandel!

Heres the link....

Cheap lift

And heres mine....Note the eye bolts for attaching tie downs to stabilize the bike.

Just slide it under the bike..(Gotta watch the filter, though, if you put it directly under the filter, it will squish it a little.)

Then give the handle a twist and up she goes. Depending where on the frame you put it, you can lift either the front or back wheel off the ground entirely. Its very stable, too, althoug if its gonna be up for longer than it takes to lube the chain, I recomend using tiedowns to the eye bolts to hold her still.

Not quite a replacement for a bike jack, but a fun and useful little project!

Very good Copper! Made in USA!
I started working on mine last night but didn't have the 1" drill bit.
Just wondering... no carpet on the edge to protect the paint?

We were in Sears yesterday and was so happy someone shared the Bike Lift design BEFORE I spent the $80 on the Craftsman jack (Made in China).

Thank you again Iandel.
Your tip on the Bike Lift saved me over $50!
Parts came to $27.77 in Lowe's, WITH the red paint.

Do you think it will get the front up enough to put gaiters on?

50 year dream......Those are D&Ds, very happy with them.

Silverado.....That was the only hitch in the process, I forgot to mention....The 1" bit was too small for my pipe, had to use a 1 1/8", not sure why. I didn't have any carpet, so I skipped it.

Ajfisher.....I haven't done the gaiters, but I think you would want a bit more hieght than this to slip the fork legs out, it only raises the front wheel a few inches off the ground.

Thanks, guys.

Erik

Where did you find that sticker for your side cover?

Nuthin, I got it from these people:

Decal Zone

They have a bunch of cool Union Jack stuff, pretty good deal, came quickly. They have been on the sidecovers for almost year, riding in all kinds of conditions, still look like new.
