Man this suxxxxxx!!!!!! Today is Sunday, 12 Feb, here in Atlanta, GA, and I am JOENSING Big Time!!!! The outside temp is about 38 degrees, and my brand new America is in my garage taunting me!!!! I'm really chomping at the bit to ride her, but last weekend I took her out at 44 degrees, and nearly froze my ass off!!!! All I can do is shine on her, and hope the weather turns soon.....I don't think it will turn warm here for another 6 weeks or so, however, I have heard rumors of 58 to 68 degrees by Wednesday...That would ROCK.....I now have about 200 miles on her, and have a motherly craving to change the oil in her, but will wait until at least 300 miles......My cut-off temp for riding is 60 degrees, so maybe that's not too far away.......
Does AUTOZONE sell an equivalent oil filter, or do I have to pay 20 something dollars for a dealer filter?

NAPA has one, the 1358 I think, but it isn't much cheaper than the Triumph one. Purolator also has one and it is about $6. Do a search and you will find the number of it.

Pure One #PL14612, that's the only Purolator I'd use. The NAPA 1358 jumped up to $10, I'm switching to the Pure One next time around. (Advance Auto & Pep Boys carry the line, but typically the 14612 has to be ordered)

Bosch makes a good one too which you can find at any auto parts store. I forget...3300 or something like that. I always remember it when i see it, buit you can do a search for bosch here and you find posts on it. They make 2...one the stock size of the triumph filter and one thats a bit longer which would of course be good except for one thing....makes it impossible to jet the bike up on a jack without hitting and crusing it. Don't ask me how i know that. :-D Anyway i think the regular size is the 3300 and the larger is 3323, but i may weel be wrong.

If you use the Bosch filter, make sure it is stamped "Made in USA" on the end. Bosch uses two suppliers. One is Champion Industries Which is the manufacturer of the Mobil 1 & Pure One filters, good stuff. The others are junk.
Mobil 1 M-108
Pure One PL-14612
Bosch 3300
All good filters

Honda #15410-MM9-013 can also be used.

B717doc,

Here is a very good test on oil filters. DON'T USE FRAM.
Every test I've read has bad mouthed Fram's.

I believe I may have gotten this from a past post in this forum. So thanks to the original poster.

Here's something to do on a cold day. If you think your bike is spotless, turn on some bright lights and lie down on an auto creeper then slide up close to your bike. You will see that your bike is in need of a lot more detailing, and you won't ever see you bike is clean again without doing this.

If we waited for 60 degree weather to ride here in the Pacific NW we'd ride maybe 4 months out of 12. As long as it's 45 or better and not raining or snowing I'll get on on her as work permits.

There is no such thing as cold weather, just inappropriate clothing. I rode all last week in temps between 10F and 20F with no problem at all. I do look a bit like the Michelin man but at least I'm riding and we won't see warm weather (at least by your definition) until April.

Cheers,
Fred

Ok I live in arizona warm right?...well I ride 250-350 miles a day as a harley davidson test rider...the weather here at 5am in the desert is between 25 and 45. Get yourself a good set of electric gloves and vest and you will be happy camper!!!!
