That Harley thread went on for so long that I gave up on it.
Harley's, Goldwings, BMW tourers and the like have never had any appeal to me - not even our beloved Rocket III. Too big and lumbering for my tastes which run to smaller sportier bikes - but not the plastic covered sport bikes.
I own a British single, a British twin, a modern standard bike from Japan and now a modern T100 from England. I think I may have the best of all worlds in my modest stable.
The old British bikes were restored by me and in most ways are better than when they left the factory. Totally reliable now and I never have a moments concern that they will let me down. They satisfy my vintage urges on the weekends or when I just want to go out and trundle around the coastal roads. Cruising along at 50-55mph and listening to the exhaust note is great for the soul!
My H**** fulfills my modern urges in performance and handling, and is my long distance tourer with Ventura luggage.
Although I haven't taken delivery of the new T100 it will fulfill a dream I've had of owning a new Bonneville since 2001 and I expect to be doing some touring on it too.
It all comes down to whatever turns your crank.
