I was wondering if anyone has made a homemade Narkyet? After all, it seems like it's only a piece of sheet metal with a few tabs and bends on it.

Jerry,
Your right it has been done tahts how the guys that sell them did it in the first place.
It does seem like a piece of sheet metal with a few tabs and bends on it, because that's what it is. BUT it's where you put the bends and the tabs.
I have access to sheet metal cutting, folding and welding equipment but I chose to buy one. The 2 pods were going to cost me nearly $200 on their own.
If you do decide to make one try and obtain an airbox to use as a pattern that would enable you to still ride while making the tin bits.

I just realized that I have a spare Bonneville "airbox removal kit" battery box that was surplussed when I put the Mikunis on. That carb kit came with another (identical) battery box, so now I have two. 70$ shipped in US seems like the right price. PM me if interested. Bill

Farky,
I'm planning on cutting down my existing stock airbox as a home-made NARK to go with my 904cc Wiseco BB conversion. I believe this can be done simply by cutting out the upper front and sides (and sealing the resultant gaps) to make room for a pair of pod filters.
This way I hope to avoid any problems with having to replace the lower back part of it (which serves to augment the rear fender) and I should be able to use the rest of it as a storage area for tools, etc. I also won't have to bother with making alternative mounts for the battery, rear brake reservoir and electrical components.
It'll be a wee while before I do this, though, as I'm going to run in my new liners in with the stock airbox in place (minus snorkel and restrictor plate) for the first 500 - 750 miles or so and it'll be next Monday before it's ready for the road (Yaahoo - can't wait!) and well into the spring before I start the cutting. Watch this space if you're interested in how well it works out.
Meanwhile, I know I've seen a couple of posts on this site (and the Delphi forum) showing photos of just such projects - so it's probably worth doing a search.
N.B.
If there are any more stock air boxes up for grabs in the UK I'd be very interested.

Eddie,
NARK
bhart,
I'm also interested, but it looks like you may already have a buyer. However, can you tell me if you received two battery boxes by mistake? Do all Mikunis come with two? Maybe I can find someone else who has has a spare one....
Keef, I thought about doing the same thing...but I was looking for a spare airbox...I'd like to keep a stock one.

To Panthermark: No. I'd already installed a vg K&N box elim kit from South Bay Triumph, ~2002. When the Mikuni kit came later, it too had this battery box as part of it. Soooo, on with the new, onto the shelf with the SB unit, alongside the Bonnie stock airbox. Bill
