Is there anyone out there that knows where the police depts. get the blue lights for their license plates. I have asked a couple of police officers and they did not know. I have noticed that cage drivers stay far back when they see these lights so I thought I would get some for my Bonneville.

Gary, I don't know where they come from either, but don't do it! That is a gauranteed way to get to know your local law enforcemnet officers...."Civilian" vehicles can't have any blue lights at all, in fact colors are specifically regulated.....Rear facing lights can only be red or amber, front lights can be red, amber or white.

For some reason, we cops are very jealous of our blue lights! :-D

Have you seen the motorcycle lighting devices made by Kriss Motorcycle Products? (www.kriss.com)

I sure wish someone would enforce the color code here in ABQ as these idiots think that having white blinkers in the rear of the car is cool out here, while it blinds whoever is behind them. Nathan

GaryB,I`m sure Copper is right on this, but if you want to try something on the cheap, maybe a set of those single LED windshield washer lights they sell at GI Joes would work. :???: Or maybe a strip of blue 3-M reflective tape on your helmet?

A company called Kisan Technologies (kisantech.com) also makes some lighting products for bikes.

I'd like to improve my visibility on the bike, but I don't want to look like a Tijuana taxi either...

How about self-cancelling turn signals?

Silverado57,

I have had self-cancelling turn signals now for about 8000 miles--love em. I got it from Newbonneville.com--NewSpeedmaster.com in your case. It is called a Signal Minder Turn Signal Self Canceler, and it is made by Kisan. It works very well in turning off the turn signal; however, it cannot reset the manual turn signal switch on your handle bar--you have to push the reset button before you can signal the next time. This has been little to no inconvenience for me. The Kisan unit simply replaces the flasher unit that is located behind the left side cover on the Std./T-100's--I have no idea where your flasher unit is located on Speedies and Americas.

These units are pricey; however, it was almost mandatory for my safety because I could NOT remember to turn the d*** thing off. And, I have NO trouble remembering to push the reset prior to signaling--talk about feeling old sometimes. :-D
