I have to admit, initially it was how good the grey top seat would look on my Black scrammie. The OEM seat has done ok for me on a 2day weekender of about 300 miles round trip. I can always use a little more leg room as I am 6'2" with 34 " inseam. I've heard the Burton seat sits a little taller and, honestly, that was my second reason for considering the Burton seat. Not sure how much taller it might be & if it would be as you suggest worth the $350. The Baldwin seat I referred to in my previous post is just absolutely gorgeous & comes with rave reviews for comfort from every board I've checked so far. But that would tack on at least another $100 to the cost. So now you've got me ask to thinking, maybe stay with the OEM. One last thought. I recently got a Sargeant seat to replace the OEM seat on my 2002KLR 650. The OEM on it didn't seem a problem for short to medium rides on the KLR but I've done some longer rides on it & would get monkey butt then even with an Alaska Leather seat cover on it. The Sargeant seat turned out to be a distinct improvement. So maybe the same would be true for the Burton Grey top or the Baldwin. But thanks for posing the question & making me think.

While it doesn't exactly look good... a beaded seat cover is pretty darn comfortable...

Silly mike

Thanks for the suggestion. Haven't tried the beaded seat cover but have used Alaska Leather sheepskins on my KLR650 & my BMW R1100RT. They help to increase comfort some. May give the beaded cover a try.

I had a burton bike bits seat on my bonnie and it was more comfortable than stock but after a couple thousand miles, it compressed and you could see a depression from rider to passenger height. This caused some cramping in the legs for me. Just an FYI... Here's a pic of the bike, take a look at the seat...
