A little attention isn't so bad
I rode the Trumpet to school today, and because the parking areas are asphalt, I rode it up the handicap sidewalk access and parked it in front of our performing arts center on the concrete entrance apron. Next to the Bonny was two dresses out Harleys belonging to friends and fellow teachers. When we came out of our pointless, 3 hour meeting, a crowd of kids were gathered around and asked questions about my Triumph. They ignored the Harleys. The kids were male and female basketball players there for early practice. (The kids were out for a teacher's work day.) I went down the street to a convenience store to pick up some lunch. When I came out a guy in his 40's was standing there grinning. He asked about it and said, "That looks like a motorcycle." He had waited outside for 5 mins. Just to here me fire it up and drive off. I didn't disappoint him. Even my Harley riding buddy Richard loves to hear me fire it up and drive off. The sleepers make it sound so nice. Enjoy the limelight and promote the Brits.

I never thought of myself as an attention hound, but I've come to expect it and actually like it

I too get some attention while riding the Bonnie. Especially while at the shore in Delaware, I get comments and questions there more than anywhere.

It have been told by more than one HD rider that they love the sound of my bike, and how they wish theirs was not as loud as it was and sounded more like mine.....gotta love it.

My father, who really doesn't care for bikes, upon seeing mine for the first time, proclaimed "now that's a motorcycle."
I recall when I lived in So Cal, was at the front of an intersection (lane-splitting) waiting on a light. Big guy in a pickup next to me was beaming. I nodded and he asked if it was a '68...I replied that it was an '07. He looked really p*ssed off, and never said another word, as if I was jerking his chain.

When I park next to the gigantic HD lumps of metal at work, my Bonneville looks like a moped. And I'm fine with that.

My Triumph won 3rd place (peoples choice) at a Harley Davidson dealers bike show.
I went there with some friends, they were giving away a Harley Davidson Switchback. There were only 3 Triumphs at the event, while we were waiting for the drawing we noticed they were having an open motorcycle show, my friend kept telling me to enter, I felt a little funny crashing their party but entered anyway. Got lots of compliments and a nice trophy.

My 88 year old father-in-law stayed with us for the month of November, and turned out to be a pretty knowledgeable motorcycle guy - although he didn't much like the looks or sound of my Ducati.
However, when he saw my Bonnie, he also said, "Now that's a motorcycle!", and loved the burble of the exhaust. He must have spent the better part of an hour looking it over out in the driveway. Afterward told me all about his brother's Norton that he'd bought new, and how much he'd coveted that bike...and what a big bike it was. I didn't have the heart to tell him the Bonnie was actually a larger displacement lump.
It was great to find some common ground to finally meet on, since I don't really know him all that well, and kind of cool to have him fawning over something of mine.
