I just ordered a xenon blue headlamp and was told by a buddy of mine that they have been known to melt the wire harness because they burn so hot.
Has anyone used these for any length of time and have you seen any problems?
Thanx
Dave

I had them on my last bike (Honda VTX 1800R) for over two years with no problems at all, they are brighter and whiter.

I put one in over 2 years ago and within a week it melted the socket. Others haven't had this problem. I guess you roll the dice and take your chances.

I put one in about 6 months ago and have had no problems related to heat. My problem with the headlight is that he high beam is worthless. Believe it is the lens. I try to avoid riding at night but when I do ride in the country the high beam is worthless. I think I am going to switch in the spring to a 7 inch sealed beam halogen 6024. I read that these work well.

I would wager that the reason some have problems and some don't is because of differences in the sockets. Some may be made out of a plastic that melts easier than others. Even on the same model they will source small parts like that from whoever has the best price at the moment, especially parts like that which aren't seen and don't change anything visually or performance wise. And you gotta realize that they probably don't consider the melting point because they aren't intending you to replace the light with a hotter type.
If you really want this and need to be sure you don't have this problem, just go buy new sockets that are made from a more heat proof material and some teflon coated wire and splice and solder yourself silly. It should be simple and then you'll certainly have no problems.

Same here. I ordered them last month and have had no problems.
I have to disagree with Anchorbend. I think the high beams work great.
IMHO

SWMBO has one in her T100. No problems with heat and she runs her high beam in the day time.

Anchorbend, I think the problem is the reflector rather than the lens.
