I am running 2 sizes larger (I have a hi-comp engine) and it still weighs 9 lbs less with plenty of space...
The price isn't for the faint of heart tho.

No need to trickle charge...

Please help a confused noob. What does saving 3 or 4 pounds on a battery do? Other then make your bike weight 3 or 4 lbs less?
I guess I'm asking what is the purpose of spending a lot more on a battery just to save a few lbs?
My yusa has lasted me 3 years without trickle charging it... or any charging for that matter.

The longest journey begins with a single step....
For some, weight reduction is zen. It is for me. It transforms bikes, cars, planes etc. bringing out everything that a machine has to offer.
Removing numbness and increasing agility & one's connection with said machine.... Better power-to-weight ratio improves performance. Hopefully you get where I am going with this.

I see what your saying, but I would think you'd have to do a lot of weight reduction part swaps to make a noticeable difference.

Exactly, it weighs 3 or 4 lbs less with all the benefits posted above. Also, 3 years is on the low end of battery life. Some would say not maintaining it led to the shorter service life. Hence, when a battery discharges slower, it lasts longer as the chemical reactions inside are less destructive. Time will tell if these lithium batteries last as long. They certainly have a much smaller environmental footprint, from being made of less harmful materials, and of course, being lighter, meaning less fuel use, transport costs etc... If you are into that sort of thing.

Good point on the environmental footprint, although the old batteries are supposed to be recycled properly, which does not mean sending them to West Africa to be "recycled" by children in their backyards.
I think that my last battery (Bikemaster) only lasting three years might have been related to a slowly-failing regulator rectifier, which I replaced pre-emptively last year. I'm expecting more than three years from my current Yuasa.

I'm not saying my battery lasted that long, I'm saying I've had it so far for 3 years. I expect another 3 out of it. My father pulls his batteries in the winter and keeps them in the basement. He's had his for 6. I'm hoping mine lasts that long as well.

One thing to keep in mind my first battery went out going down the high way in a bad place .I f your battery goes out it can make the bike cut off and not run I found out the hard way.A tow truck can cost as much as a battery.

Re: New Battery
There's no way I can pack a tow truck on my bike, no matter how good a deal I got on it.
