uni pods & sputtering

I took a dremel to my airbox and installed uni's and a crank breather... I love the sound and the power boost but I'm noticing some kind of slurping on the low end.. like hiccups with a stalling like effect on the engine. do you guys think its a vacuum loss from loose pods perhaps? it's an efi scrambler and I remapped with a tune from ttp

Have you still got your O2 sensors?

yes.. but there is a possibility they aren't working right because I re wired them when I put the 2-1 in.. still I think I would have noticed that before now. I didn't get so much as a tiny fart for a backfire until yesterday

Have you re-mapped? Including for the exhaust.

Sorry didn't see the last line 'til I re-read.

I think the TTP maps are made to be used without O2 sensors. They calibrate the settings to allow for that.

going to pods is a big change you may need another map.You cant just bolt stuff on these bikes with out knowing what the a/f even if you use custom maps.

from TTP

Hi Nate,

Thank you for your order. It is true, all of our tunes have been designed to run with the O2 sensors disabled. Our tunes have the O2 sensors disabled specifically so we can control fuelling of idle and low throttle openings. Air cooled twins do run quite hot in the Summer whilst in stop/start traffic, so a rich idle can help the engine stay a little cooler and in the Winter, it helps with cold starting/running. Our experience has shown the twins run better this way. We sell an O2 removal kit HERE.

Your problems may stem from the O2 sensors reporting back to the ECM and trying to change the fuelling of the tune. Once you have removed the O2 sensors, please re-load your new tune and carry out the “Reset Adaption” routine from a cold engine

Regards

Mike Cripps

waiting on bolts

Apparently, to disable the O2 sensor you need to physically disconnect it, even if it's disabled in the ECU.
I'm waiting on plug bolts to arrive- which were very hard to find btw.
