Flat Black Thrux? PICS

Decided to flat black my 2012 thrux. It had some scratches on tank, and the clutch cover .... so something had to be done

previously, it was gloss black with the stripe down the middle and had the polished engine covers.

I did the engine covers, side covers, tank, fender, and cowl in a TRUE rat rod flat black. Dime city flat black headlight is in mail. And im putting the chrome triumph badge back on tank

Just got a nice little booth setup in my workshop too! This particular flat black is a kit from Keystone. Standard flat black with a FLAT clear (not matte)

I was going to do something like this in the future, but i debate. I've hear that it scratches really easily? true? My idea was Flat black with some gloss black features and some Gold striping to go with my Gold bits on my bike. The more i think about it the more wishy washy i get.

I think yours looks great, and im anxious to get your review.

Micah.

It will scratch easily without a clear coat of some sort .... but I have a clear coat on it. If you look at the pics, you will see my 09 Speed Triple in the backround. It is also flat black, but that's a factory paint scheme from Triumph. The bike came like that. You can't scratch it any easier then you can a gloss black paint job.

I did the thrux flat because I have never seen a 2012 flat black thrux, and also because I just love the way it looks

Cause i was honestly going to do Flat black and was told it was a bad idea. You beat me to getting it done. I like how it looks. Are you leaving it de-badged? Something else? I was also told that putting a clear coat on a flat paint would eliminate the flat look. Maybe the guy i got a quote from is a nut.

(But personally, I wouldn't slap that big ol' chrome badge back on the tank!)

Im putting badges back on it.

there are a couple different types of clear. there's a FLAT clear which will make it look dead/flat & like a chalkboard. Then there's a MATTE clear which is what I did and it's also what Triumph uses with their flat black scheme.

and then there's a standard clear which would make it glossy. so depending on what you want it to look like, go with MATTE or FLAT clear coat
