So I guess what I felt today was the result of the cam (designed for low-end), coming into it's own again prior to piquing out. I'm not a mechanic, so I could be blowing smoke...... but
is it possible that the power produced by the cam is cyclical and can be revisited at higher rpm's???
In a word, no. Unless the Honda elves have slipped a V-TEC system onto your Bonnie.

What you are experiencing is the engine at or near the peak HP output. In other words, it's nearing it's peak pumping efficiency (remember that a recip engine is nothing more than an air pump).

A cam does not produce power and poorly thought out modifications to things such as camshafts can make a perfectly drivealbe vehicle and render it next to useless. More lift and/or duration do not a better engine make if you lose such things as flow velocity or screw up the scavenging efficiency so that the combustion mixture fill is incomplete or the chamber contains too much of the previously burned charge.

And just what is a 3/4 cam anyway? A V-8 camshaft that has only 6 lobe sets? :???:

Gotcha.... makes sense.

Maybe things are working well with my bike. And to think just an hour ago, I was in the living room messing with some pipes that may not have the best scavenging efficiency...... why am I messing with a good thing?
