jojje.....i don't know if it's my limiter i keep hitting at 7500 on my 05' speedy or the 270 engine cutting out before it gets to the limiter. But if it is the 270 causing it, do you think my 270 would be able to rev all the way to the limiter if i installed those nology coils? Of couse as you've said in the past maybe my tach is wrong. But would the coils help if it is cutting out due to the 270?

I don't think it would help but I haven't tried. My guess is that the ECU runs out of time and then there is nothing you can do. On the other hand it can be that the dwell gets to short and then other coils might help. Some time ago someone posted that shifting the polarity on the coils helped but Gill say the coil will burn out if you do that so I can't recomend trying that.

I have an 05 T100 togas, rejetted etc. Do you people honestly feel a lot more power after 7000 RPM range? And, do you think the engine is really designed to spin much over 7500???

i can only speak for my speedy, but with uni filter, drilled airbox and snorkel removed with thiunderbike pipes and rejetting, it is still pulling hard when the engine cuts out due to either the 270 degree engine's inability to rev over a certian point or the limiter, don't know which. But whichever it is, at 7500 on the tach it's pulling hard and i can feel it's still got a ways to go. But according to Jojje it may be the tach is off and it may be at the limiter which on my bike is 8k. So i don't really know if i'm at 7500 or 8000, plus i also don't know what's liniting it....the limiter or the 270 engine phenom. All i can say for sure is that while it wouldn't do this when stock, with the mods i've done it's definatly ready and willing to go further than it's being allowed to. In fact it feels like it's really coming on when it gets cut. hate that !

I put my modified rev' limiter through it's paces again, 135 miles..... 300 total so far. What made today's ride different is, I got a chance to feel the cam of the 790 coming on strong at higher rpm's.

I don't have a tach', so I have to go by what I feel......
and believe you me I felt it! ( )

In the heat of the moment(s), I found myself giving her a little more juice than I have been for the past 200 miles, and she brought many a smile to my face today.....

My comment prior was I felt that my engine wasn't necessarily producing out any more torque or horsepower beyond the customary 7400 rpm. So I guess what I felt today was the result of the cam (designed for low-end), coming into it's own again prior to piquing out. I'm not a mechanic, so I could be blowing smoke...... but
is it possible that the power produced by the cam is cyclical and can be revisited at higher rpm's???

(By the way, I ended up getting 45 mpg again as opposed to my usual 40. River roads, sprints, freeway runs, through town ((past all the posers at the Easyriders show in Sac')), jack rabbit starts, and back on the freeway again.)

Pat,

My guess is that the timing advance curve is a little different on your new igniter "box" from your description. I have a Jojje modified igniter and bonnie runs exactly like before except the rev limiter is now at 8100 rpm. Hp peaks at 7800 on mine and drops about 2 hp at 8100 on the dyno. Lots of fun. :-D :-D

Larry
so how does one get one of these magic boxes?? I want one!
