You are correct - it is NOT the same thing. PlastiKote is just a name brand for standard spray-bomb paint.

I stand corrected, Amazon seems to be the best supplier in UK.
Thanks for noticing my mistake:-)

What prep have people done? I'm thinking of spraying a spare bearclaw on my R3R, its Chrome at the moment (with a dent I'm going to fill) would lightly roughing up the surface be enough?
I'd like to dechrome more of the bike and a matte finish would look rather good I think.

No ruffing it up is necessary. Just clean it good and spray right on. I did my heat shields on my street triple about 8 months ago and it is still looking good.

Question t100 wheels

Anyone sprayed their t100 chrome spoked rims?

I'm sure it'll look sick, and it's definitely going to be cheaper than powder coating.

Just want to be sure that it'll come off if it needs too, and that it sticks to the chrome ok.

Thanks!

Curious about this as well. I've seen some picks of it done on dirt bike rims. For $5 and a half hour of your time it seems worth a try. The examples I found people taped of the spokes and then used index cards between the tire and rim to keep overspray off the tire. When I change my tires I think I might give this a go.

I saw a video (just tried to find the bloody thing - no luck) where guy does his rims, off his car, tires still mounted.
When it's dry, the overspray just peels right off the tires, staying separate from the rims themselves, so looks easy enough.

Well my tin of plasti-dip arrived this morning really well packaged with a tube of wine gums added!
Comprehensive instructions as well.
Going to try two things.
First my homemade gear lever for my Rocket3 which is now peeling Chrome, I'll rub it down, to smooth it off then paint.
Second I have a dented bearclaw which I'm going to fill and rub down and paint.
Looking forward to seeing the results.
