Thanks all. Massively helpful. I think I will go down the SE route and get a seat from Burton. Had two blow outs with inner tubes on a Suzuki GT500 and a Yamaha RD350 and never want to experience that again.

my base 12 bonnie was the first 17" wheeled bike for me, i really like it and cleaning the chain oil off is easier which i do not have to do because i installed a scootworks belt drive, i love my BONNIE!!

I think the paint job, shiny engine cases and styling which make my Thruxton attractive to the ladies, none have ever mentioned the wheel size. Or maybe it's me riding it which makes the difference.
