Buying used T100 EFI or Carb?

I want a Bonneville. I had a '66 T120R new in '66. I want that classic styling. With all that said, do I want EFI or Carbs.? I know the plus's of F.I. but what are the negatives on a Triumph. If I'm not mistaken the Carb'd version has a smaller tank which is closer to the '60's look. What else? Thanks,

i bought new so it was FI i prefer a carb, easy for me and cheap to work on. i got the mag wheeled bike, test rode a t-100 very nice but bought a base with mags for its looks, IMO it handles better 17" wheels and a little lighter, can't go wrong either way drive both. FI needs downloads for upgrades, some extra electronics, in tank fuel pump + filter, lots of info on this great forum, its my first bonnie since my 70 T120R, do not miss the vibes for sure!!! early bonnies look the BEST IMO

I bought a used '08 this summer (carb'ed); and it's been great!

I'd say test drive both types; and get whichever you like the best.

Hey NE Ohio! Where you located? I'm in Southern Portage County. If you do a search here you will find many threads about carbs/efi. I think the gist of it all is that those that have carbed bikes like carbs and those with EFI prefer that.

I think the guy who suggested either would be a good choice is giving you the straight business. If you're an old Triumph guy I'm betting your going to be happy with whatever modern classic you wind up with.

Good luck.

There is lots of info on this topic. Carb or EFI is like asking Pepsi or Coke. There were 70,000 non efi Bonnevilles produced since 2001. The tank on the carb is nothing like the old narrow US tanks. Its a very small shape difference.

I'll keep my eye out. There's not a lot of modern Triumphs around here yet, but I see more and more of them. Stop out and visit the guys at Northern Ohio Ducati/Triumph in Tallmadge. They are good people and I highly recommend them. Even if you buy used from a private owner you will want a good dealer/parts/service shop to deal with.

Don't know if this is of interest, but here's one in the classifieds:

I've been there and your right, they're good people. I actually just lusted over a 2013 green Thruxton on their floor. I've been doing my business at Harding's though. Bought a few there. I did see the black bike in the classifieds but I don't want cast wheels. Thanks for the tip though.
