I gave $1900 for it. I really didn't think that was too bad. The bike was on the Kansas City Craigslist.
It took weeks to actually get to see the bike the for the 1st time. I bet I sent 10 emails trying to get into see it. He would never give me his phone number or call me on mine. Even after seeing him and the bike and meeting in a grocery store parking lot he wouldn't just let me come to his apartment to pay him and get the title. I had really given up on ever getting to see it, let alone buy it. And then he finally shot me a text and wanted to meet 30 minutes later!! I live about 35 minutes from him, but we worked out the time.
He actually showed up in the grocery store parking lot on the bike and I was thrilled. After we talked for a few minutes, I requested to drive the bike which he agreed to. I had already decided I would give the $2500 he was asking if had to at that point if it just rode ok!! Well I hit the switch and I get nothing but a click...damn!! It sounded like a loose battery cable. So he lifts up the un-screwed down seat to reveal the battery, and on one of the cables the bolt that is supposed to hold the cable is missing and in it's place there is a piece of bailing wire holding the cable on. And not even twisted good and tight where it might actually work, just like the rest of his mods...half-assed!! When me holding the cable tightly against the battery terminal still doesn't get the bike started, we call it a night.
He says he'll get the battery fully charged and the battery cable hooked up properly. So the next day we meet at 12 noon. The fix is good and my test drive is fine. I verified that the title was clean and clear, no liens, and not salvage or anything. I offer $1800 (should have said $1500!), he counters with $2000 and of course we end up at $1900.
