Extra Motorcycle: dya mean the one outside?
I've just been told that the barrels and sleeves on my 01 Bonnie are a single casting (ie. the sleeve are not made seperately and pressed into the barrels). This means that the sleeves have to be bored out of the barrels rather than pressed out to fit my new Wiseco 904 ones.
Can this be right?

Yes. You need to bore out the cylinders to press in the new liners. I strongly suggest you send the cylinder to Wiseco to perform the work.

Wow, I just asumed the sleeves had been pressed in. Fortunately there is someone local whom I trust to do this (he once modified the barrels of a Trident which subsequently reached 210mph) but boring out the whole lot rather than pressing and boring will double the cost of the job as they are chromed inside, making it alot more wearing on the boring bits. And I hate to see such a nice set of sleeves/barrels getting trashed. Still, I'm saving alot of labour costs on other parts of the job by doing alot of the work myself so I suppose I'll just have to lump it. And I'm sure all those extra ponies will cheer me up.

Since the stock barrels are chromed on the inside and the wiseco sleeves are not, it seems to me that any wear inside will now occur on the sleeves rather than on the piston rings. I gather that one of the reasons for the new bonneville being such a tough motor is that the inside of the stock barrels are so resistant to wear.
Is there any evidence that fitting the wiseco BB kit will reduce its lifetime/reliability?
