Iron Butt T100
I got an e-mail from Mike Kneebone of the Iron Butt Association last night. They approved our National Parks Tour ride so Bearshark the Bonneville T100 is an Iron Butt motorcycle.
We did the Silver National Parks Tour and did it two-up. I am proud of Bearshark. He is a competent motorcycle who has now seen 45 states and one Canadian provence.
I don't know that I'd recommend the tour, but for those interested:

Well done that man! I keep hearing over here about how Bonnevilles aren't suitable for LD riding despite the fact that I do it. Spread the word.

Congratulations, Charles.
I did an Iron Butt on the new T-Bird, but can't imagine it on the T-100 without a non-stock seat.

Congrats! I keep wondering if a Thrux/Bonnie/Scram could do two hour jaunts on the freeway.
Goes to show its more rider than machine.

Great news Charles!
And I saw the photo of you in front of Aerostich in the catalog before I saw your post on the other thread...I said, that's gotta be our Charles Lathe! Nice...

I always find it amusing that people seem surprised by this sort of thing.
Years back people went round the world on older, less powerful bikes - yet these days a trip to the next town seems to require a Gold Wing or similar to some.

You're correct, of course. However, ignorance is bliss (when that's all you have, you deal with it or you don't ride, and certainly don't complain). We are conditioned by environment (soft environment = hard time on retro seats). Way back then, I don't remember 60 or 70 yr olds riding like they do now. Though I may be wrong, since I didn't hang out with the older crowd way back then.

So, Charles, mind if I ask what seat you have on that Bonnie? Also, what was disappointing about the tour?
Congratulations!
