Every day there seems to be a what oil, tires, lube, etc do you guys use type thread. I'm guilty of it as well.

Those always include someone yelling about using the search function.

Why don't we create a thread to keep track of all these suggestions and sticky it to the top?

Then you could open it up and see...

oil
brand a (x number of people who recommended it)
brand b (x number of people who recommended it)
and so on

chain lube
brand a (x number of people who recommended it)
brand b (x number of people who recommended it)
and so on

tires
brand a (x number of people who recommended it)
brand b (x number of people who recommended it)
and so on

Then you could see 20 people recommend product A at $10, but 15 people recommend B at $5, so it builds some confidence in the cheaper products.

Seems like it'd be really helpful and useful...though admittedly, some work to keep up, and I'm not volunteering.

Also, I do know there is a sticky thread on the other part of this forum for maintenance and how tos...this is more for ingredients...if you want to call them that.

Pick any forum about any vertical interest and the complaint is the same- newbies 'bothering' old timers (measured by length on forum) about the same old questions.

Want to make a good suggestion?
Just tell them to get over it and not bother to respond and waste electrons.

Maybe it's a right of passage for seasoned participants?
Perhaps there's someone who posts 20 to 30 times a day and is the self avowed expert on each and every subject that may come up?
Or a mod bent on corporal punishment?

Best part of forum messaging?
They roll off the end in the end.

Trying to organize typical topics into some kind of order is up to the owners and mods.
They're probably too busy to do it.
But, some kind of categorization is a legitimate idea.
Bravo.

Recently I needed info on an electrical problem I was having.
Used 'advanced search' and skimmed through about three pages of threads with related content.
Bingo.
Got my answer and I didn't have to wake any of the trolls up either.
[For, certainly, somebody is gonna grouse -like you said.)

oil thread sticky maybe we need 2 levels of forums. Newbies and
Oldies. Which one I am I don't know yet. But since you asked
I use Castrol 20-50 regular oil in the summer. 10-40 in the Winter.
Purolator filters. Bridgestone S11 tires. I don't lube my chain. I don't
Winterize. Ride all Winter. After market computer box. Nology coils and wires. Nitrogen
in the tires at 38 psi. Foam air filter in stock air box with snorkel removed. Aluminum air inlet.
135 jets for now. I know I'm leaving something out. Oh yeah
100 watt headlight. 42,000 miles almost. Bob.
