LOL. Okayyyy.
And just to clarify - even though no one here has any intention whatsoever of ever doing any of the above, of course - odometer tampering is not just a local/State problem; it's actually a federal offense, i.e. a felony.

Have you considered just leaving it registered in the state you're leaving? Maybe get a P.O. box with a permanent forwarding plan to your new CA address in place? At least until your mileage builds up enough to re-register it in CA?
Not that I'm condoning that kind of thing...

If you are moving from another state with the bike, then you should have no problems whatsoever. I lived in AZ for over a year and purchased a honda ruckus while out there and saw on those forums all the trouble people are having with out of state vehicles. its only a problem if youre a CA resident and you buy it out of state, then you would either have to roll the numbers manually or find a used speedo, and hope you dont get caught.

And the speedometer issue is just one of the Small things wrong with Cali. The best solution would be to just move Eastward. Most any state to the East should do.

This whole thread brings to mind the scene in Ferris Bueller's Day Off when the two are trying to roll back the mileage on the Dad's prized Ferrari...

really the only honest way to do it is to take off on a cross country trip to the east coast and back. I'm sure your wife would understand, just explain things to her.

Someone around here had a solution if you PMed them. You might search around and see if you can't find who it was. I don't remember, it was a year or more ago. I don't know what the deal was, I assumed they had an odometer to borrow/rent with enough miles to get you going.

Unhappy

Hint: check the 2005 Thrux and see if it has a CA sticker inside the the left hand side panel - if it does the mileage becomes moot

Ok so essentially you are asking the group how to break the law even though it is really a cirmcumvention. The reality and the easiest answers are either buy a different bike or get a petition together and have the law changed.

Be VERY careful,....I know someone that got 10yrs,for clocking speedo's.
He worked at a used car dealer, making them read right.
