TORs vs bafflectomy on Scrambler

Welcome to yet another exhaust comparison advise thread.

Today's topic is comparing the Triumph Off Road mufflers to stock mufflers post bafflectomy.

So, if anyone can offer perspective here, how do these options compare noise and performance wise?

Is there any advantage in going from de-baffled stockers to TORs?

I just did this swap . I had ran debaffled mufflers for a couple years and was happy with the way it sounded. Recently I side-swiped a deer and it knocked one of the remaining baffles loose and the rattling sound was driving me nuts.

I found a used set of TOR's for aboubt half the original price. They are a little louder but not annoyingly loud. I have not noticed much of a difference in performance yet.

A couple riders have commented to me that my Scrambler sounds like the early Triumphs did with performance mufflers.

Neither. Norm Hydes. Life is too short to settle for second best.

I thought that quote was "lifes too short to drink cheap beer".

Cheap beer certainly falls into the "second best" category

Thanks all.
The loud pipes are going to have to wait until after I move out of this condo complex. I'm really looking for the least loud performance option. Less expensive is a good thing as well. I would really like to get the Arrow high 2-1 but can't afford just yet. Not as many choices out there for Scramblers as Bonnies.

Have you done a baffelectomy to your stock pipes yet? If not, why not give it a try and see what you think? It won't cost you anything other than a little bit of time and it might give you what you're looking for.
If it doesn't work out, you haven't really lost anything or wasted any money.

I've done the bafflectomy - really fairly simple. My son's Bonnie has TORS, and they aren't much louder and there is no performance gain (he bought it used and they came with the bike). I installed a pair of Norman Hyde Togas on my Bonnie and there is a small performance gain and a significantly better (and, yes, somewhat louder) sound over both the TORS and the stock. I'd never spend the $ for TORS. Hydes rule!

Yes, I have done the bafflectomy. I'm pretty satisfied with the noise level vs. stock. It sounds like a motorcycle instead of a sewing machine now. I have no idea if I gained any performance as I did airbox mods at the same time.
