Black rims on Scramblers...?

People with black rims on their scrams, how are you going about getting the black rims? Are you buying new wheel sets, unlacing wheels and painting/powder coating??

Thanks in advance!

I haven't pulled the trigger yet, but plan to send mine to Woody's Wheels to have them re-laced with black Excels.
When I spoke with them, the estimate they gave me was roughly $1000.00 if I went with black Excel rims, heavier spokes and sealed to run tubeless tires.

One option is British Customs, I believe they sell them in both wider widths (rear) and larger diameters (front) in black.

ok, this is helpful guys - so people are rebuilding their wheels or having them rebuilt... I didn't know if I missed something like an option on the bike.

Cheers

I did mine with a rattle can which worked fine. I know I'm not the only one...

I had Devon Rims in the UK made me up a set using Talon centers. Pricey, but worth it. And Devon is a great company to work with.

I asked a number of times here about aluminum black rims and never got a definitive answer before I pulled the trigger on the black Talons. People would say Bucannans or Exel. I called them and a bunch of other places. The logistics of buying the right rim and spokes, then finding a place to take the parts to and jacking my bike up and removing my wheels for an extended period didn't work for me. The whole process seemed like a big hassle. I don't have that kind of time. That's why I saved my money and did a one stop shopping experience with Davon. I not only wanted black rims, I wanted to drop some unsprung weight with lighter wheels. This solution worked out great for me.

Rattle can Plasti-Dip. No need to mask the tires and overspray scrapes off the spokes. easy to touch up too.
