This CB1100 has bolt on parts from Mugen; pipes, seat, front air screen.

The Japanese have a knack for producing great retros at the wrong time.

The Honda GB500 TT-racer style thumper was one of the most beautiful Japanese motorcycles of all time and it wasn't even expensive. It didn't sell; now cherry ones sell for several times their original msrp.

And remember W650 which looked at least as much like a Meriden Bonneville as our Hinckleys do, perhaps even more so? Well, it came to these shores shortly before a modern "real" Bonneville showed up flaunting that marvelous pedigreed Triumph marque on its tank. Great timing there Kaw!

Then of course there was the Zephyr. Good luck to Big Red--we'll see if this new Honda can buck the egg-laying trend of Japanese retros.

All I know is I've been hankerin' for another in-line 4, and that fills the bill rather nicely!

And arguably looks much nicer.
the last time I had an instant 'must have' attraction to a bike was when I saw my Bonnie if a dealers showroom.

I've just had that feeling again... What a beautiful looking piece of kit

There is a great deal to like about the big CB. I do wish it had a bit more fuel capacity. 3.9 gallons (US) just doesn't cut it. The link below has a bunch of info on the 1100F and all the new Hondas.

It reminds me of an old superdream rather than a 750. It just doesnt do it for me.

Yes 3.9 is disappointing. The tank looks larger than that but I guess it's more sheet metal than capacity.

The CB1100's ergos and motor would make it a great part-time tourer (UJM windscreen, throwovers and/or duffel, hit the road). Alas it would have the same Achilles heel a Bonnie does: limited range when you get out where stations are few and far between. Oh well, I guess that's what they make Reda cans for
