When shopping for a Thruxton last year, I was told the supply had pretty much dried up and probably have to wait for a 2012. I was at another large multi-brand dealer from whom I'd bought (2) other bikes previously later that year. As I walked around the showroom, they had a 2012 Thruxton just delivered the previous day. We discussed a deal and I decided to think on it over the weekend. The following Mon. I called to say I'd take the bike, but was told somebody bought it the previous Saturday & there would be no problem getting another. The thing was, they are allocated only so many of certain models. They'd likely not get a replacement Thruxton for quite some time unless a unit was sold - there had to be a customer associated w/ the bike. I put down a non-refundable deposit, the sales manager called a guy at Triumph and was told bikes were in transit, but one would be reserved for me and take priority over a dealer inventory order.
I don't know if any of that relates to your situation and since they've agreed to give you the deposit back, it probably doesn't really matter.
