Whats a 2002 bonnie worth

Found a 2002 bonnie for sale close to me, first off is 25,000 miles alot for these engines or do they go way farther then that? and with those miles in fairly clean condition what's it worth? I really want to get a triumph to play with and mod for fun. Had a thruxton before and really miss it so I will slowly cafe this if I buy it?

Book prices on bikes in this economy don't mean much. plus I'm also asking about 25,000 miles on the motor

There are a lot of dependencies here:

Where is the bike located?
Does it have maintenance records and who maintained it?
What aftermarket parts does it have?
What color is it?

I think others can chime in on the engines, but from what I've read they are reliable and will maintain good compression well past 25k miles with routine scheduled maintenance.

Ultimately, however, "worth" is something that will be worked out between you and the seller. What is it worth to you? If you don't have a price already in mind, then you need to do some craigslist research at what other Bonnies in your area are selling at. Keep in mind that sellers on craigslist often list their Bonnies at a price that is higher than they are willing to accept, leaving room for you, the buyer, to negotiate.

With all this in mind, if this was a clean '02 Bonnie, with complete and up-to-date maintenance records, and with tasteful modifications or none at all, I would pay about $2500-3000 for it. This is for my market, however.

According to the Motorcycle Consumer News November 2012 issue, the fair value for an '02 Bonneville Standard in good mechanical and cosmetic condition is $2,695.

There you go then. Show up with cash. Take it for a ride. Ask to see all the records. Point out any faults or problems you see. And then negotiate. If you don't feel good about the price then walk away. If the seller is desperate to sell, that puts you in a good position. If not, then c'est la vie. Simple.

Regarding the milage on the motor, I know of one person in my club that’s got over 130K miles on his Thruxton and it still hasn't needed any motor work done to it yet. I wouldn't worry about a motor with 25K on it. But that of course is all dependent of how/who maintained it.

+1...this is a good approach. The price is in the ballpark...if the bike is a winner you should be able to negotiate a deal.
