who welded the hardtail?

I'm not sure if the guy I bought it from did.
The guy was going thru a devorce and sold me his "work in progress".He got it that far and just started riding it before he finished it.When I found it I thought "thats what I need, something that will be finished in THIS lifetime!"

Wow! That is indeed sweet, and I love how balanced it looks. What year is it? Also, what do you have hidden in that oil tank and under the seat?

My usual comment is "I am not now, nor have I ever been, a bobber fan" This could change my mind.

dummy oil tank

The wiring harness went from 15 to 5 curcuits ,it contains a fuse block. There is an amp gage mounted along with light switch, horn button and ignition-key.
This started life as a 2006 Bonneville.

Now it has a 21" Avon front tire
springer front end
smaller head light
handmade two tone leather solo-seat with air-bags
stock front frame/welded hardtail
130/90-17 rear
...and it will have a rear fender shortly
.....needs a mirror
wants an oil gage
has an amp gage(that never got hooked up-I'll do that)

No bells and whistles(or speedo)just the pure pleasure of listening to the engine through open headers without all the distractions, like the fun you had riding that minibike down the street....it takes ya back!
Granted,it isn't for everyone but it is my cup of tea!

Great bike and a fantastic find!! Throw some more pics up when you get the fender mounted or just more pics of the bike period. Did you do the springer front end or was that already done when you purchased the bike?
