Just priced out the genuine Triumph high sissy bar.(wanted to make it easier to strap on a tent and sleeping bag)

# A9738018 $472.50 Canadian

Is my dealer on cheap drugs?

uh, those of us that on them now like to refer to them as Triumph Backrests. Other motorcycles have sissy bars.

$300.29 (USD) from dealer

MotoSayle...Actually in my opinion the Triumph "High" sissy bar (uh.. backrest) is really not that high at all. With the K&Q seat it's just a few inches above the beltline when your sitting on the seat.

I'd agree, shorty. It's not that high with the standard seat either! Had to fit one on my bike, otherwise the wife wouldn't join me. I think it detracts from the overall look of the bike, but in the interests of harmony and love....

Same here, Lobo. my better half insists on the Triumph Back Rest when riding with me. It's the low Triumph Back Rest but she likes the fact that she knows she's got something from stopping her from flying of the back end. She says it makes it much more relaxing and I've noticed I don't get "helmet bumps" anymore.

While I think the Triumph Back Rest looks great for sissy bar..darn it..Back Rest, I always take it off when she's not on it. I think it detracts from my beautifully Bonnie's lines.

I have a Triumph high sissy bar (yes, I said sissy bar!) and I am very impressed with it. High quality, good looking peice of gear, my wife is much more comfy on rides. Kinda spendy though.

I got mine from Hermys, it was far and away the cheapest place I could find. The prices are in US dollars, so hopefully you can do the math! Heres a link:

I can relate! But now that she has her own T100, she doesn't want a back rest on hers!

I'm in the process of getting one for my bike for the same reasons as lobo, ridge etc. Here in Aussie I got two very different quotes one $530AUD and $450AUD. I've looked at Hermeys and unfortunately they don't export.

Somehow ace bars, up-swept megs, bar end mirrors and a high sissy bar isn't the look I'm after but try and tell the wife that. :???:

Eventually I may have to consider a short backrest to keep the wife from sliding off.
Don't like the idea of messing with the looks of the Speedmaster though.
