today's Motorcycle News in the UK has snatched shots of 2007 Triumphs in development. One of these is a 1500cc twin, cruiser style...

well, it's actually a Bonnie engine in an America frame but bulked up to match the specs for the new 1500cc bike.

No on-line pics that I can find... the MCN website mentions the Truimph pics is passing, but only in a 'buy todays magazine' sort of way...

It does however look pretty neat and leans more towards the Bonnie than the Rocket, despite using two-thirds of the Rocket engine.

The MCN website says "five" new Triumphs. What are the others?

HOLY SH*T!
1500cc's of PARALLEL TWIN????????

If it's got something other than an old fashion chain drive, has mag' wheels with tubeless tires, GOOD brakes, low seat height, and NOTHING about it cheezy looking.........
I could be an interested party for a second bike in the garage.

God, i hope it's not gonna look like the rocket engine minus a cylinder ! Gotta be the ugliest engine i've ever seen. If it looks like a classic twin i'm probably in. But at 1500cc i don't think thats gonna happen. (but please god, make it happen )

Yeah... Been hearing that "story" for 2+ previous years now. Thought we'd see one 2006 it was last said. Maybe rumor has it's truth after all? 1000cc America or SpeedMaster - maybe I'd try to get one of those. OK, even if it's a V-Twin. Does Triumph have the know how to build or say the word - VTwin?

...is, as usual, a load of...

> Been hearing that "story" for 2+ previous years now.... Maybe rumor has it's truth after all?

Or maybe it just proves once again that people tend to believe what they want to hear, even from the same source that was wrong so many times before. Getting lucky once in a while does not a prophet make.

> Does Triumph have the know how to build or say the word - VTwin?

The term you are looking for is not "know how." It is "no reason." They've made it abundantly clear they have no desire to be like everybody else. A V-twin would be a change of direction that would, I fear, signal the end of Triumph's uniqueness.

Personally, I can't even see the point of trying to fit a 1500cc engine into a Bonnie-like frame--but especially not a twin! It would be incredibly cumbersome and would involve sacrificing a lot of the ridability that is Triumph's stock-in-trade. That'd need to go in a chassis designed specifically for it (a Thunderbird rebirth, perhaps) or else it'll just look and feel bloated.

you think the photograph is a fake, that it's distraction technique from Triumph or that MCN have just plain got it wrong and the photograph - blurry and from a distance - actually shows something else?

(all are possible)

Ok, so where do I get a "big bore kit" for it.........

thought I would get in first

with regards to V twins, why do they exist? I cant seem to get what the attraction is. they must have somethng as there are an awful lot of them about... maybe just because they smoother than singles ???

single is simple , can see that.
paralell twin ( and opposed ) can see their reason to exist, smoother, and in the case of the opposed less vibration.
three in line, yup, smoother and better blanced than teh paralell twin..
in line four, yup, definitely smoother and better balanced...
straight six is my favourite configuration, but not convenient for motorcycls

V twin... whats it got ???
