I just had a chance to really ride my T100 with the new TORS. They sound great without being obnoxious and I believe that I am getting a bit more power from the engine. I installed the 115 mains that came with the pipes but am still getting some popping. Would going to 120's or 130's eliminate this????

You may never eliminate all the popping, but if you dyno your bike as you're tuning you'll get to your optimum settings with less hit and miss and more power as a result. Saved me a bunch of time and money putzing around and guessing about jet sizesand needle settings. Just tuned as we tested. 64BHP and 49ftlbs of torque in the end made me happy. My tuner said other than camming up or boring out it's as good as it gets on a stock engine with my pipes and carbs.

regarding popping:

Have you removed your A.I.?

Also, have you done any other mods?

How many turns out are you?

I removed the A.I. when the bike had 15 miles on it, but have done nothing with the airbox as yet. I also have not ajusted the mixture screws. Give me your thoughts, thanks.

I know the two platforms are slightly different, but I ran 125's with the 1st Gen TOR's on my America. Recommended by Bella Corse , the bike ran beautifully with two shims on the stock needeles and 3.25 turns out on the A/F screws.

Pweitz,

A lot of poeple are 3 turns out or so.

I think I'm at 3 right now, and I have an 05 T-100 (865cc) with TOR's. (I'm in the burbs of Chi-Town.....Go Sox, Go Bears!)

It's better to be a little too rich then lean.

What year is your T-100, and where are you located.

I also recommend trying thre turns out on the mixture screws. I don't know your location; but if you are at or near sea level, you could probably run 118 main jets without being too rich.

I am located in Wichita, Kansas which is about 1,300' above sea level. I have not touched the carbs except for the mains being replaced. I might check to see if there is anyone in the area that can dynotune the bike.

I also got new TOR's recently for my T100. I rejetted with the 115's and went 3 turns out. I ride at altitudes between 500 and 1500 ft. and I don't get any popping when decelerating. I'm not an expert on carb tuning, but I think if it is popping a lot on deceleration changing the mains won't do anything for it because the main jet doesn't feed any fuel until you get on the throttle 3/4 to full. If it's not pulling hard in the mid to upper throttle range, then needles, shims and main jets come into play. Anyway, that's my understanding from what I read around here. Good Luck! BN

Edit: actually the main jets affect performance throughout the entire throttle range. My bad.

Try adjusting your mixture screws. Turn them all the way in until they lightly seat. Do not over tighten. then turn them out three turns. If you are stil getting some popping, turn them out another 1/2 turn. Alternately, you could install 42 pilot jets and turn the mixture screws about two turns out.
