That would be a $15 automotive sealed beam H4 unit...I like the rounded headlight look too and have one on my '08 T100. I wish I could put an 8" headlight on, like came stock on the Yamaha XJ650 Seca from '82, but that will never happen... That headlight really threw some light down the road!

Cool would be if it functioned well as a headlight. Do we know how well it functions as an actual headlight?

While we're on the subject of "cool or not cool" in my opinion cool would be you rocking the headlight and not giving a damn what anybody else thinks about it. Cool is when you do what you want and you don't care what anybody else thinks. I have done a lot of things to my bike just because I thought they looked cool. If you think they look cool you should go with it.

The Bonneville is a modern retro, so I don't see a conflict with running that light as log as it was decent quality and provided better light than your current set-up.

I think you should do it, if you like it.
But...
I read your post on how you would connect it, but since you'd be using the "high beam" switch to turn on the HID portion what would you use to turn on the high beam portion of the HID bulb? Or did I mis-read something? Or does it not have a "high beam" function?
I think it would look AWESOME (my $0.02)

You know what I think would really awesome, if you out in like s little 5W bulb just to illuminate the reflector,
Like Mercedes has or Jaguar and mostly European cars I think they call it euro lights or city lights, a lot like our parking light but instead of amber its just really dim regular light.

UPDATE!

So I ended up deciding against the angel eyes/LED lamp. It seems that most of the ones that I saw are barely visible enough during the daylight so that there is no point.

Instead, I installed the HID kit last week since, thanks to Sandy, there wasn't much else to do. The bulb that I had was an HID Low, Halogen Hi beam, not bi-xenon. I ended up changing the wiring so that the Hi Halogen wire from the HID kit is wired to the Low beam harness connector and the Low HID Xenon wire is wired to the High Beam connector. (Basically reversing High and Low connectors).

Since the High Beam on the HID light is a 60W halogen light, I am not straining the Bonnie on startup, I have a DRL for the day and then at night, I use the Hi Beam switch to turn on the HID light. Given how bright the HID seems to be (5000K), I don't think that I will need a High beam. I haven't had a chance to test it yet but will post pictures next time I go out at night. Too many leaves and debris on the road right now.

I do see that the light on the HID is spread wide, so I am going to get one of those 7" projector beams. I had a headlight from an old BMW 328 that I had which had the whole projector, light cutoff and height adjustment setup, but that won't fit.

There were a couple of holes on the frame underneath the fuel tank that fit the ballast mounting holes almost perfectly. That's where I decided to mount it.

Not too bad. I was worried that there would be too many wires exposed but it's not too bad. I'll send pictures of the actual headlight and how it illuminates as soon as I go riding at night.

So I took the Bonnie out last night and tried to take some pictures. It's hard with the phone but it does give you an idea.

You can see wider and further. The pictures taken with the iPhone are much darker than it really was.

I ordered the Eastern Beaver harness and will also order the Projector lamp and take more pictures to compare.

So far what I can tell is that the original halogen is brighter very close to the Bonnie but it quickly fades away. The HID has a much wider and longer throw, albeit not as bright as the brightest area of the Halogen. However, it is plenty bright and over a much wider and longer area (see the end of the street on the left side and the branches on the right.
