Here ya go TC88:

I have pipes so dark blue they almost look black in some light...And I love em!

I met a guy the other day parked next to me on 2000 W650 Kawasaki. While I think that model is just fine, this particular one was not in the best shape. When I first saw it, I thought for a second that it was an older Triumph. Then I noticed the engine and badge.

I watched its owner staring at my bike and we soon struck up conversation. The beginning of our chat started in a pleasant manner with me saying nice things about his bike and him bragging about it.

Then he began making comparisons to my bike and his and my bike and original Triumphs. He had the obligatory comments about old Bonnevilles leaking oil, "what's it mean when your triumph stops leaking oil?...It's out of oil! Har Har Har!"etc, etc. I let it pass and let him enjoy himself.

He was obviously pretty pleased on noticing my dark blue pipes and asked me what was wrong with my brand new bike. I told him quite straightfaced, that the blue exhaust is a hallmark of a real Bonneville and a sign of a well loved Triumph.

He didn't know if I was kidding or not and decided it was probably best to stop the Triumph bashing and end our conversation on a high note. After complementing me on my bike, he jumped on his rusty, dirty, uncared for, W650 (with shiny headers) and drove off.

I bet hes working those headers over with a torch right now.

Ridge-

A Christmas tree is the background with some blue ornaments would be a perfect seasonal composition to your most excellent montage and story. I know you can do this.
Happy Christmas!
(Man, what is the deal with Booze just hanging in the Generic section- is he trying to guilt trip us? :???: )
Cheers!

Man I love that bike of yours Ridge. I printed out a picture of it and gave it to my wife and told her that this is all I want for Christmas! (I'll have to let you know if it works)

I really love the look of those Kawasaki's, they did a nice job on them. For a while there was a rumor of Yamaha coming out with a retro, based on their old XS 650. Guess after Kawasaki's failure to sell here in America, they changed their minds.

I have had a few people mention my blue pipes and I educated them. In order to preserve the Bonneville tradition , Triumph spent untold sums in the development of of the retro bluing of the pipes.

Bob,I thought it was superimposed when I first saw it too.But with the background showing thru EVERY open space and the same shade and horizon on every reflective surface and the dirt on the tires indicating thoughtful positioning,I`ll give it a "real" :upthumb: :-D

Brit bike pipes are supposed to be blue, I like them that way.

It's the flash that creates that illusion. Without it the front of the bike would all be in shadow. Looks like the flash also wiped out the shadows on the ground too. Is that white spot in the back of the chrome mirror the flash, maybe?

Am I close, Ridge? Or completely wrong?
