My 05 Bonneville Black was delivered today and, except for the scratch on the bottom of the front fender made by a tie down strap, it's in mint condition. I attached the Triumph sissy bar I got on e-Bay and I'm extremely happy with the appearance. I'm going to try to start it tomorrow, wouldn't start today, very cold. I'm hoping a spray of starting fluid into the carbs will cure the problem, supposed to be in the 40's here tomorrow too, so that should help. Now all I need is some warm weather for the first ride, and oh yeah, some money back from the shipper for the scratch! Any other hints for starting these in the cold weather would be appreciated.

Great news.

Use the starting ether very sparingly. Remember it is only 800 odd cubic centimeters, not 350 cubic inches.

Too bad we are in Ohio... I wanna ride!!!!!

Congrats Bob...enjoy. Just to let you know... it's supposed to be about 43 deg here today too. Unfortunately that's celcius here in Oz...which rounds out to near 109 deg F. I can sympathize tho...My dad lives just south of you in the Garrettsville, Ravenna, Mantua area. Best of luck in firing up the new bike.

Bob,

Leave the ignition on for a spell, let the carb heaters do their work...should help

Many many envious felicitations Bob - your gonna have fun - cold weather or not.
Fear not, cold start cures abound. For example: a mate of mine tried holding a burning rag in my intake when I had a B21 - at least I think that's what it was (pre-unit 600 ohv single by the name of "One Lung"). The engine was in a Husqvarna frame and we used it as the farm bike.
It cost me a pair of jeans but what the hell, it got the thing warmed up.
Probably not a great idea for your new bonnie though - just in case you thought I was serious.
Enjoy!
:-D

Bob, when starting do not use any throttle. That is a very common mistake. Congrats on the bike.
