I need to re-attach my rubber kneepads. Does anyone have a recommendation for the right kind of adhesive?

You should be able to heat them real hot with a hair dryer and the adhesive will stick again just as good as before assuming they didn't get dirty. Clean the tank real good with some rubbing alcohol first and heat that up as well.

If this doesn't work for you, I would use that really good 3M brand double sticky tape. I've heard it works well, too.

Thanks Thunder, but half the adhesive stuck to the pads and half to the tank. I wound up removing all of it. I'll go to a hardware store and start reading labels. If I can't find something like the standard stuff, I'll use the double-stick tape as you recommended. I've used it on some auto applications with success in the past. It's just that I wanted to get the pad snugged completely up to the tank. I'll pass on any successes I come across.

I used to use 3M 8090 in my car stereo days. It was industrial spray glue for installing vinyl tops to cars.Maybe try a local auto paint supply store. :???:

Thanks Rod...that sounds like just the thing. I'm on the hunt. Rodburner...hmmm, sounds like an old school welder. Does anybody use flux rods anymore?

Yes they do. I gave up the arc a long time ago, just BOA now[at work] and a little Lincoln 120v wire feed.[at home] Our company wanted to switch to all wire feed, but the utility company, who`s pipe we work on,won`t budge from their decades old "stick weld"standards.

Mine started to peel at the edges so I very carefully applied some Evostick contact adhesive. It's pretty easy to remove if it creeps a little. I would think if you applied it thinly and evenly it would do the job. :-g

I had planned to go with the 3M 8090, but had a difficult time finding it. Instead I got 3M 90 Super Adhesive for rubber. It applies the same way, ie spray both surfaces and then let it dry before joining. I'll let you know how it works...
