I live in Florida and I'm thinking of getting a screen for my '04 Bonneville. Summer? roadster? - what has worked for you guys?

I hear the Dart screen is pretty popular.....and not too expensive.

I just installed my Dart Flyscreen from New Bonneville.com yesterday.

I could not be happier with the looks. The new black powder coated brackets make them invisible. The screen itself is not obtrusive in the slightest and what you do notice of it conforms to the lines of the Bonnie so nicely I actually think it may be an enhancement.

I think it will look even better with lower bars. So I'll wait till they are on before I post new pics.

Installation was a breeze. The packaging was very nice and it arrived in pristine condition. The instructions are very clear, thoughtful, and easy to follow. It took me about 15 minutes to put it on, which is lightening fast for me to do anything regarding my baby as I am very cautious to follow the Hippocratic oath to "do no harm".

The screen and parts are of obvious high quality and fit together easily. I was worried the the screen might look like a piece of flimsy plexi but it is actually quite thick and substantial with a nice beveled and polished edge.

No word on the actual road test yet as it has been snowing all day, but for now I'm giving it the thumbs up! :upthumb:

But what if a snowflake touches my baby????

Maybe in a day or two when it melts off. I have just the location picked out for it too. The snow capped Rockies will be in the background. :-D

Thanks Ridge. That dart screen is so small! But it does the job?

I have not tested it as of yet. This screen isn't designed to block the wind as much as divert and smooth it out a little.

Here's what D2mini wrote about it in another post:

Quote:
After installing the dart flyscreen you will notice that the wind that was repeatedly pounding you in the chest in bursts, is now a nice smooth constant airflow over the screen and towards your round noggin. If you are wearing a full face helmet this air flow will continue over and around your helmet. I still get bugs on my face shield. So yes, the wind is still in your face but the difference is that it's not pounding the freaking krap out of you! And the wind hitting the screen is going to do no more to the handling of the bike than if it was hitting you. The wind is just being smoothly redirected. I found absolutely no difference in handling after the screen was installed.
I'll let you know how I like it on Monday or Tuesday after this snow melts off.

The real question is what you want the screen to do. I think many people have not been happy with the summer or roadster screen. It seems to cause a lot of buffeting on the head. If you want really want good protection Then the Parabellum Sport Shield seems to give very good protection but it is pretty tall. It is also cheaper than the Triumph labeled screens. You also get a 30 day trial to see if you like it.

Many people like the Dart but it will provide less protection. Looking to see more feedback on that one.

Guys,
I have one of these Iridium Fly Screen
It does keep the wind off to about 1/2 head height if you duck slightly or had flatter bars or are shorter than me 5'10" you would miss it all. Almost no insects on jacket or visor/face.
Fitted real nice, the only thing was the headlight became auto adjusting ie the higher the speed the higher the headlight. I fixed this by pushing the headlight down and then tightening it up.
Also it looks good the iridium suits the all black. My daughter said it looks sick ( this means good).

Bram, I use a summer screen year round. I do have a roadster screen; but I don't like the way it looks. The roadster screen does keep more wind off of you. As someone posted above, over 75 mph, I do get some helmet buffeting with the summer screen; but it is bearable. Some helmets are worse than others for buffeting.

The plus side is that the screen looks pretty good on the Bonnie, it is rock solid, and does not cause any stability problems in cross winds and in tractor trailer drafts.
