I just picked up a really nice, low mileage Anniversary Edition T100 (2003 model - post factory fire) that is BONE STOCK. I already have a nice barely-used set of TORs and a center stand for her (sounds more proper than 'it').
Here's my question: Does one have to remove the carbs from the bike to rejet it for the TORs? Or is it possible to remove the float bowls and swap out only the mains with the carbs on the bike?

In other words, can I leave the stock needles in the carb, and simply change to a larger main jet, and do this without taking the bike apart to do so? What's the minimum rejetting I can do to assure the bike runs well, and isn't running lean after installing the TORS?

I will also be installing the AI elimination kit.

I'm familiar with Bella Corse and NewBonneville as a source for parts.

Thanks for your advice.

Absolutly ! No need to remove the carbs at all. However, the stock screws are cheesy and hard to get to. An allen wrench is far far easier, and brent sells a set of allen head screws for our carbs. Everyone gets then when they rejet the first time ! Trust me, you need to get them. Then it's a simple job. Doing it w/o removing the carbs is no problem, but the first time you may find it very akward getting your hands in there. But by the 2nd or thrid time it gets real easy. Just be sure to get the screw set before you proceed. They're $6 from brent. (newbonneville.com)

i would however suggest experimenting with needles more than mains. they cover the largest range of throttle positions while the mains mostly just affect wide open throttle position. The needles is where i and many others found the power was hiding. try a shim or 2 and you may be suprised at how much you get just from that. Brent also sells shims for 2 bucks for 4. And taking off the tops to get to the needles is even easier than the bowls. A lot of us also use more tapered needles like thruxton needles which are about 15 bucks a pair. Tho that may be better left untill you open up the airbox more. I'd suggest going up a copuple numbers at most on the mains for now and trying a couple shims on the needles and pulling the snorkel. Then if the mids are too rich and the bike stumbles at all, remove one shim. i think doing these things will get you a nice boost of power from my experience, tho the speedmaster is a bit different than the bonnie so you may have to experiment a bit.

HI Bob congrats on the new ride;interesting that you already have the KawiKlone..Yes the jets can be changed without removing the carbs, however the screws are kind of a one time thing,,,real soft and easily stripped.Best to get the Allen head replacements before you start;you may want to get into those carbs again someday. An 03 T100 should have the 790 motor...110 main jets stock...40 pilots stock. For TORs you COULD actually leave it as is,but probably should go to 115 mains...42 pilots.I would leave the needles alone unless you go with intake mods like airbox removal.Adjust the idle mix screws on the bottom of the carbs if low rpm response seems off. You* may* need to balance the carbs after changing jets.Maybe not.
The good news is that the 790 motors can really be tuned up for extra performance and there are wildly varying theories as to which set up is best. What ever works for you I say :-D Good luck and report back ..There are lots of people here who know more about this than me if you need help.

Man that Dazco types fast..of course when talking about re-jetting he is in hog heaven!.The TORs should give you a nice improvement in sound and some extra power. If you need more, larger and louder pipes are in order;more air intake to match the pipes, bigger jets! SHIMS!! NEW NEEDLES!!!DYNO REPORTS!!!!.....uh,sorry I get caught up in all the excitement. You can see where this is headed ,right? :lgh:

I had to remove my carbs to get the screws undone.....

It's easy to change the needles without removing the carbs because you go in from the top.....

However, I had to remove my carbs to get the screws undone on the bottom side so that I could rejet......those things were a pain in the ass, and I could not have gotten then undone without removing the carbs.....get the stainless steel screws before you do anything.

Since you have an 03. you probably have the anti-tamper plugs that need to be drilled out.

Actually, I have an 03, no tamper plugs. I am not sure what year they started with those, I think it might have been 04 or 05 even.....

I have an 05, and it has the the "d" screw. Maybe the d-screws started with the 03's?

In 2003 they used the anti-tamper plugs and slotted screws. The "D" screws started in mid-2004, I believe. To remove the plugs, simple insert a short drywall screw (they have vert sharp points) in the tiny hole in the center of the plug, screw it in by hand (it won't go too far). Grab the screw shaft with a pair of pliers, and taps the plies downward with a small hammer. The plug will fall out.
