Anyone ever tried the RainX anti-fog stuff on their helmet visor? It says don't use on plastics unless manufacturer says OK. I'll probably give it a test to see how it works out, but I was curious for any experiences.

Zighawk,
I had a windscreen once that I used Rain-X on and it completely fogged it, I was unable to use it after that, I couldn't clean it off, totally ruined. Another lesson learned about reading the instructions........again!

Ouch, I'm with ya about the instructions. Read them after I bought it, but luckily before I used it.

Be careful, rainx will even ruin a car windshield. It gets in the glass and will ruin wiperblades and takes a lot of work to get rid of it. I am in the car business and we fight it all the time. If one never uses their wipers rain blows off the glass but one swipe of the wipers and it looks milky and foggy. We use BON AMI cleanser to polish the glass to get rid of it. Ed

"Be careful, rainx will even ruin a car windshield"

???????????????????

I have used rainx for years on my auto windshields--NEVER any problems. Wiper blades last twice as long and bugs are much easier to clean off. "Milky and foggy"--NEVER seen that. I have seen problems with road film at night--long before rainx--when it rains. A cola soft drink poured over the windshield while its raining and with the wipers running will clean the windshield crystal clean and clean the wipers also.

Rainx is a GOOD product for glass windshields--read the instructions and apply accordingly. I do not use it on plastic.

I love this thread. It comes up every now and then on one forum or another. Soon someone will reply in all capital letters that one should never, ever, use this product, as it will instantly ruin your windscreen or visor, and probably increase your taxes as well. Perhaps.

All I can say is that I've been using the product on visors, windscreens and windshields (glass) for decades without issue. (Maybe though, that's why my taxes are so high.)

I use RainX on both my car windshield and my helmet visor. It's wonderful on the visor -- if I get stuck in some rain, all I have to do to clear my visor is turn my head slightly to one side. The windblast blows the water right off.

That said, it only works on some helmet visors. Be sure to test it on a corner of the visor to make sure it doesn't react with the plastic.

I have also used Rain X on all vehicle glass for many years and it is a wonderful product. It is the first product I apply when I buy a new vehicle. It is the ONLY way to see in a heavy thunderstorm when the wipers can't keep up. It is also wonderful for 4wd vehicles that are used in the mud as the mud will slide off of the side windows instead of sticking right where it hits. Product instructions clearly say to test on plastic first.
