Notice the T-shirt Mr. Zimmerman is wearing in this album cover: Hwy 61 1965 Bonneville...no wonder they are legend.

From a Web site:

On July 29th of last year (1967), Dylan was riding his Triumph motorcycle to a nearby repair shop when he lost control and crashed, suffering serious injuries including a concussion, massive bruising, lacerations of the face and scalp and several broken neck vertebrae. His recovery come retirement led to persistent and often times ludicrous rumors that he was recovering from a drug overdose, was grossly disfigured, crippled, and even that he was dead.

In a recent interview he addressed for the first time his accident and his brush with death. "The back wheel locked, I think. I lost control, swerving from left to right. Next thing I know I was someplace in Middletown, I think-with my face cut up so bad I got some scars and my neck busted up pretty good. I saw my whole life pass in front of me…the fact that I made it through what I did is pretty miraculous."

This is the most "thorough" account I've read about Dylan's motorcycle accident. I don't know about you, but it doesn't ring true to me. It would not suprise me in the least if some or all of Dylan's motorcycle crash story, like much of his personal history, is apocryphal. It makes a nice story, but until I see the busted motorcycle and what must be a lot of medical records, I'm skeptical about the "Motorpsycho Nightmare" story.

In any case, if you've seen the photos of him riding, it's no wonder he crashed.

You can get a t-shirt like that one. There's a guy that sells them on ebay, and has a website selling them too.

www.geocities.com/jaycain2000/index2.html

I've bought a few shirts from him. They aren't Beefy-T, but the colors hold up.

Minnesota's (Hibbing) own, Bobby Zimmerman.
Highway 61 is a main artery in the Iron Range area of Northern Minnesota.
It is cold and bleak up there, and that's in June.

The skivvies that Dylan was wearing on the day of the accident are now on sale on Ebay. They still remain in all of their unwashed glory. Here's a real find for all you Dylan and Triumph collectors. Joe :-D :-D

Blues Hwy - Hwy 61 was a long road. It ran from Canada through Mississippi to New Orleans.
Robert Johnson was said to have sold his soul to the devil at the junction of hwy 61 and 49 in Mississippi.
