I will not mind wrenching on my older more vintage machine. It will get me out of the house and time to myself and a free education.

Other Motorcycle: Soon.
Extra Motorcycle: 73 TR6 (okay, it's a car)
I like (or for that matter, love) old AND new. I personally enjoy maintaining my Hinckley, but also just prior to it I refurbished an old airhead (R75/6). Last summer I picked up a '73 TR6 (car) because I knew it would be fun (it is), but also, well, needy (it is that, too). It's fun learning all the ins and outs (thankfully, there's EXCELLENT forum support with like-minded gearheads).

There's a lot of satisfaction in keeping something 40-years old on the road. For everyone? Of course not. But garage time, for me, is very therapeutic.

It's that way for me too. Particularly when it's 18 degrees F outside and the snow is flying.

Exactly and I have an extra 1965 650 TT/T120 engine to play with in the storage that I am going to start putting back together because the previous owner had it apart but all the pieces are there. I got the manual in PDF on my desk top for easy reference.

Free Education is priceless.

What's needed is old and new, that way when the old one needs work or your waiting on parts, you can always jump on the new one and ride.
Plus if you are mechanically disinclined like myself, you always have something to ride after you are fixing something for the second time, because you screwed up fixing it the first...
(I resemble that last remark)

You are so correct Elpresidente...I have a classic and a modern Bonnie. No doubt my classic has more of a maintenance side to it than my modern, and yes sometimes I am not able to ride her because of that. But when that occurs I'm usually only off her for a couple of days. So I ride my modern one when that happens...having the best of both worlds, old and new, is a good thing for sure.

This might be a '65 but the Amal carbs are the 930 series Concentrics introduced in '68, not the Monoblocks it came with. Also, the primary cover with the round timing port is from a '68 or later too.

I still own quite a few of these old bikes and worked as a Triumph mechanic at a SoCal dealership in the 60's and early 70's.

Edit: I see you are in Jackson Chuck - nice area! I had friends in Volcano and Pine Grove and used to spend a lot of time there

Serial number on main case comes to a 1965. Thanks for the info.

I think all this riding around the country is starting to affect what little judgement that you had to begin with.
