They have these bulbs that plug right in just like the regular 1156 bulbs but have a LED cluster instead of a filiment bulb. I wonder if there are any issues with these, so i'd like to hear from anyone who's used them. I have read at least one thing which mentioned something about the relay not working correctly with them for some reason on some vehicles. so who's tried them?

I've got LED rear turn signals on my TBA, though not the type you're talking about. I have the license plate surround. Here's a pic. The center part flashes when you apply the brakes, while the outside part is the turn signals, which flash sequentially. [You may have seen this at Hansen Dam, but maybe someone else would be interested.]



The problem with them on my bike was that they draw less current than the regular signals do, so the system thinks a bulb is out and all the signals then flash very rapidly instead of normally.

The fix is a $10 (or less) part called a load equalizer, which balances things out. Don't ask me how it's installed; it was soldered in very neatly under the seat at South Bay Triumph, for a few bucks.

Yea, thats what i read come to think of it...they draw less and it thinks a bulb is blown. A load is no problem. So i think i may go for these and make new sockets that will allow then to dwell deeper within the shell so i can use clear flat lenses. i hate way the stock lenses stick out about an inch, plus the clear lenses (the led's are amber) look less cheesy than amber lenses.

By the way, i'm absolutely lovin those kuryakyn switchblades. Even w/o the blade option the feel much better than the stock pegs, not to mention they look infinatly better. Also i noticed yours were loose on the adapters and would spin if pressure was on them. You might be interested to know i found that you don't even have to rough up the mating surface as i had read. Just tighten them up real good and they don't move. Pull the blade out and you'll see a hole at the end of the peg. Just pull the rubber up a bit so you can get an allen wrench in there and tighten it. Not sure what size the wrench was but just test a few. Anyway, clip a vise grip on the end of the wrench so you can tighten it up real good. the bolts are quite big so you won't have to worry about snapping one. I used a lot of muscle with no problem and they now will not spin at all. Just thought you might like to know this. These pegs are one of the best mods IMO.

That's good advice, Dale. Soon after I met you I found myself down at SoCal Triumph in Brea. While I was browsing, I asked the mechanic to see what he could do with the slipping pegs. He did just as you said, tightening them really well and adding a spot of blue Loctite, so vibration wouldn't loosen them. Perfect, now. They really do make a huge difference, especially on the freeway.
