I don't think it will be an issue........if it ever becomes so I'll work out a solution and let everyone know what a muppet I am :-). The wiring is much shorter, better and the unit runs a lot cooler than the factory one. I suppose the only time it could ever be an issue is abroad in traffic........we'll see.

I can highly recommend extreme tape http://www.xtremetape.com/ No sticky adhesives, yet it sticks to itself and whatever you wrap it around creating a waterproof seal. Amazing stuff. Great for wrapping electrical wires. I've used on my bikes, cars, riding mower and several projects around the house. Should be available at your favorite auto parts store.

Hi Richard thanks for the tip. I couldn't find any this side of the pond, so bought some 3M electrical tape. I have removed the surplus wiring from the reg/rec and put a junction onto the live and neutral for power to either the sidecar of for a satnav, as the wiring is permanently live. I have managed to remove the ignition switch junction and wiring from the headlight, and just have to re-tap my joker bracket to fit my EFI 6mm bolts.

Just finished the joker switch and wiring relocation. I had a rubber cover that came on the MOSFET reg/rect and decided to add that for extra waterproofing. The terminals were a bugger to remove.

Nice work Rob, the changes aren't immediately obvious which is the way I like it. I'm interested in the regulator mod, I was looking at mosfet regulators but wasn't sure what to get, where did you get yours?

What is that? I'm talking about the "rectifier" under the headlight in your latest pic.

I like your mods, have you considered doing some of the other electical upgrades like starter cables? Did you do the headlights direct to battery? I have a bunch of threads saved from DeCosse and Forchetto covering many of the basic mods these bikes "need"
