I currently have the low factory triumph backrest on my bike.. I am putting a different color custom seat on the bike this winter, so the backrest has got to go. (I dont like it anyway). My question is this:

I see that triumph makes a grab rail kit for the Bonneville. I think it uses the same mounting setup as the backrest except you bolt on the grab rail instead of the backrest pad.

If this is true, Is there anyway to just get the grab rail part of the kit itself without having to order the whole kit? Is there anyone who makes a grab rail kit that looks like the stock one?

I have seen the Renntec one but I am not really a big fan.
Any help would be apprecieated.

This is a picture of the stock one:

Yes, the back rests and the grab bar use exactly the same "base" rail part. I don't think you can get the grab bar separately...in m y case I got lucky and bought just the low back rest off fellow Bonneville owner who didn't want that part...

...but I do want to keep my grab rail, so don't even ask what I know you are thinking!

I asked the dealer the very same question because I wanted to put the grabrail on when not using the sissybar.
The answer was no you have to buy the entire rig.

By the way anyone else think that they did a horrible job on that lower rail? :???: Very ugly welds and the tubes stops way short of the shocks. I'm thinking I may have to get it powdercoated black to hide the imperfections.

Hey speaking of powder coating...Have any of you guys seen this home powder coat system from Craftsman?

Anyone ever used this thing? Does it work? Does it look as good as the real thing or is it amature hour stuff?
