Are there any Triumph riders who also have a V-Strom? Are they good quality or pieces of junk?

I wear one of my wifes thongs every now and then. If I knew what a v-strom was I would probably wear one also.
However a v-strom kinda sounds like some sort of venerial disease origanally past on to humans by lizards.

It's a Suzuki sport tourer; like a Ducati Multistrada, Honda ST1300, Kawasaki Concours, Yamaha FJ1300, BMW whatever, etc.
You know, like a TIGER!

I was considering one for awhile, I rode both the 650 and 1000. Nice bikes kind of like a dual sport about 80% street 20% dirt. I could travel on one. I didn't think I would ride the wing much if I got one

Well, I haven't ridden either V-Strom, but I have an SV650, which is the same engine & transmission. I'm not sure about the suspension. The stock suspension on the SVs is their weak point; I've got Race Tech cartridge emulators and the correct springs in the forks, and a Fox TC rear shock, and with that and a pipe and K&N air filter, it's a great bike.
If the T100 had been out (maybe it was, but it wasn't 865cc till '05, I believe) when I bought the SV, I'd have bought the T100 instead, but the SV engines are exceptionally good, and at least the 650 (I would expect the 1000 also) handles better than the T100. Don't get me wrong: If I had to choose just one, I'd take the T100. But Suzuki has made a winner with that V-twin engine, and the magazine reviews I've seen on the V-Strom say it's just as good as the SV.

I know sharpshooter, always be encouraged to kid around, we get too serious at times.
Every good comedian needs a straight guy to play off.
Rowan and Martin, Dean and Lewis, Stiller and Meara, Abbott and Costello, Letterman and Scheaffer, Sphincter and Butz.

I owned a V-Strom 1000 last year and it compared very well to my previous pans and RT,s. It was a very good long distance bike with decent handling and a cracking motor once i had a power comander fitted. The bad pionts were that the finnish was not terribly good and as sad as this sounds it is an ugly bastard and in that respect just left me cold.

The DL650.... the "Baby Strom".....
Now THAT bike is making turncoats of traditional BMW GS owners!?!?!?! HONEST!
They like it's nimble nature, and how far it can go on a tank of gas. GS riders are letting their bikes sit in the garage while they take their little DL650 FULLY EQUIPPED WITH HARD BAGS out on Iron Butt runs and cross country trips!
I kinda lust after the SV1000's V-twin, because I can't reach the ground from a V-Strom. And because the popularity of the SV650 is so high with short people, there are lowering kits that drop 'em without compromising things too badly. I have often wondered about dropping the DL650, complete with it's VERY functional wind screen and hard bags........
My only concern is how many miles these things can hold up. Traditionally a Japanese bike began to show it's wear and tear at 25,000 miles.... depending on how quickly you logged on the miles. I would like to think that some of the smaller engines might be good for 75,000 miles, but it's the rest of the components making up the bike that I wonder about.
I have a small bit-o-change in my pocket right now, and if I stumbled onto a DL650 with low mileage and hard luggage, THAT would become my road trip bike, while the Bonnie would be "look'n tough-n-fine bar hopper"....... :-D
