I'm looking at a nice Lucifer Red (orange/red) and silver T100. The salesman believed it was a 2003 sold in 2004. I think it is an "anniversary" edition bike, and may have a decal on the oil tank that says so.
So, what is it .... an '02 or '03?
Thanks in advance for any info. Sorry for my Bonneville ignorance. I've been around der German bikes too long!

Look on the neck of the frame. There should be a date.

I think all of the orange and silver T-100's were '02 models.

Don't listen much to the salesman! Look on the frame neck--right hand side--and see the date of manufacture! I believe you will find Gypsy is right and it will be a 2002 year model.

Thanks, guys. I wonder if anyone knows of a listing that shows which series of serial numbers are for 2001, 2002, 2003, etc, etc?.
Have to believe if it is a 2002 model, it would have been built sometime in the last 3-4 months of 2001, and probably into April/May of 2002 (? - I'm guessing).

Hey ohiorider:
Look at the VIN, the tenth digit will tell you what year model it is. If the 10th digit is 2, it's an '02 model, if it's a 3, it's an '03 model. This only works from 2001 up.
Before that, they used a letter code starting with "A" in 1980.

I remember that model well- One of my favorites!
Here is what my poor memory recalls;
Some Bonnies and a handful of Daytona's were released in early 2002 as Centennial editions. Then, early in the year the factory caught fire, and burned to the ground. Production naturally stopped until the new factory was completed in late '02. Not letting a little thing like a fire stop the 100yr celebration, some 03 Bonnies wore the Orange/Silver paint and the 100yr badge.
So yes, it could be either an 02 or 03 model. Even still, there are very few salesmen I would trust... Like the others said. check the data plate; the build date will be displayed.
Hope that helps!
