40 yrs old returning rider, picked up a 2006-model basic Boneville Black earlier this Fall and have been having a blast since then.
About 20-odd years ago, as a broke college student in S.Asia, I used to ride a beat-up old Royal Enfield Bullet 350, many life interventions later, after promising myself year after year that the next summer I'd get a motorcycle, this summer found myself back in S. Asia, and decided enough's enough gotta get back to 2-wheels and so picked up another Royal Enfield over there (it's waiting for me when I go visit there every couple of months).
I've always been interested in vintage motorcycles - British, Italian, old HDs and Indians, 1970s Japanese bikes, even 1970s BMWs are looking interesting to me. Back in 2000 or so I nearly bought the Kawasaki W650 when it came out, then decided to wait for the upcoming Bonneville, and ended up waiting till now! Anyways, better late than never.
Oh, and I'd love a 1911 too! When it comes to small-arms I've only handled Browning 9mm and Glocks, but as with my interest in vintage bikes, the classic looks of a 1911 are very appealing to me, combined with its .45 caliber. But living in NYC, I think trying to own one is going to take some doing.

Rick,
Impressive hardware. I've not fired in competition, just plunking at the range.
We have very liberal concealed carry permitting here in Indiana. My Kimber is too large to do that comfortably. I have a permit, but never felt the need. If I do I'll get a fully de-burred carry .45 ACP.
Gene, Nice piece of hardware!
I think we've found another potential mutual fondness with Bonnie owners. You guys tell me you like Bourbon and we're all in big trouble...
Best Regards,
Jim

Until I sold it along with a Baer TRS (to help pay for the Bonnie); I used to carry a full sized LW Colt Gov't. model regularly, and the full sized TRS on occasion.
I've been carrying since 1987; and have been using custom IWB holsters from Brommeland Gunleather for ten years now, and can hide any sized 1911 under just a tee shirt.

Take care all,

Don't imbibe on anywhere close to a regular basis, but bourbon is good by me!

I'm 31. I've designed a bonnie that I'm going to build this winter from a salvaged unit (for my wife officially, but..). That makes me not an official owner yet, but soon.
Actually, I wasn't into the bonnie when I first looked at them, and I still think they don't look right in factory guise, but I eventually started to picture their potential. I've always been into anything that is not the norm. My first bike was an 05 sv650 naked (which I'm now selling), now I ride an 07 Moto Guzzi Griso 1100, which I LOVE! It garners huge attention wherever I go, because no one has seen one before. Once in a while, someone actually knows the name 'moto guzzi', but rarely. The bonneville has really grown on me because it is different from the majority, not many people have them and I test-rode a thruxton which I thoroughly enjoyed. I also love twins in all their configurations, so that helped.
