Cafe vs. classic
I have a 2003 T100 that I'm thinking about giving a little make over, rear sets, clip ons, new seat, boots, tuck the lights and mirrors in, boots. I love the look of the cafe racers but I also love to spend hours and sometimes days riding the back roads here on the East coast an am worried about the more aggressive riding position for long rides. Anybody got any thoughts on this ? Thanks.

Bars
Have a look in the handlebar sticky. Or goggle up jota bars. These were as there name implies fitted to Laverda Jotas. They have bolts that allow a huge range of adjustment from clipon to sit up. They might give you all your options at the twist of an allen key.

I like the comfort of the stock Bonnie but I know several dudes who do LOTS of miles on a cafed-out bike.

If you want to have your cake and eat it, I too suggest you start with the bars. I am thrilled with the simple $50 transformation of Newbonneville Superbars in terms of comfort, appearance and improvement in sport riding capability. Go as low as you like but I find those bars are a nice compromise for this motorcycle if you want to be able to ride all day. You may find that's all the bike needs. I'm also with you on tucking in the mirrors and blinkers which automatically makes the bike less stodgy while retaining the classic look.

I have a cafe that started as a classic and I wish I could have both. I love my cafe but I love the look of a Bonnie with littel bits here and there that make them look like they are stock from the 60s.

i have similar to the Newbonneville Superbars but cheap ones from ebay , you can find them on amazon for 15$ as i remember.
I find them extremely confortable but it's still not a cafe racer look.
I previously had NH "m" bars , the position was ok but they are far too wide for me.
I am looking to get the LSL sport tourer , i think the are the closest to what i want , apart from the thruxton bar but i can't fit them on my bike.
Still i haven't pulled the triger because the bar i have is so confortable for city riding and i commute 95 % of the time.

Has there ever been another bike that was sold in three distinct "forms" that shared the same basic major component groups? The best I can come up with is some of the motocross/enduro bikes and even those were more similar than different.
I really think this a unique aspect of the Bonneville line and, coincidentaly, one that absolutely gave me fits when looking at the bikes on the showroom floor. I simply couldn't decide.

The new Thruxton has a fairly aggressive looking handlebar, but actually has a fairly upright riding position. Seems like a good compromise to me.

I put some Rizoma bars on and it has made all the difference. Not too aggressive, but the handling is much improved, and it looks fantastic. I was worried about my bad back, but I don't notice any difference.
