Anyone have problems with the fuel petcock freezing? I've only got abou t 600 miles on it and I almost have to use pliers to move the petcock to On from Off. It won't even move to Reserve. Can they be lubed? Guess I'll phone the dealer and see if they can get a replacement part before the end of the year. I don't think they stock many parts! Just one more minor snafu.

I would imagine if you sqirt some WD40 in it that may do it. But if you DO decide to get a new one, why not go with a better one like the one Brent sells?

may seem expensive, but knowing triumphs part prices i bet it's not worse and maybe even cheaper.

I've had difficulty turning mine at times. If I feel resistance when I begin to turn it on I gently turn it back to the off position. After doing that it seems to loosen up a bit and I'm able to turn it with ease. I try never to force it but I can see if I did It would bind up and I would probably be in the same boat as you are now. If you get a new one from the dealer try not to force it and I think you'll be OK.

Mine also gets difficult to turn from time to time, usually in the morning. In the afternoon it's fine. Strange. Dazco is right about going to an aftermarket petcock if you decide to replace it. Why bother with another stock one that may very well end up doing the same thing.

Must be the nature of the beast. I'm "All In" with a oft times frozen petcock. Hasn't stopped me from not getting it opened, ever. Hasn't made me want to drop$75.00 for a new one yet either.

I have not had any problems myself, but if you do a search you find that this particular issue has come up before. Triumph should address it.

my petcock sticks when i turn it off and leaving it for a few days - lately i have had the same problem with my fuel tap, i worry that the o ring may bust from the pressure of turning it. I am going to be taking my bike down for the big 6 service I ask em about then

Me also! I thought it was my hands getting old and wimpy! Glad to hear someone else is getting old and wimpy. Or sorry, I mean the petcock is sticky.

I was getting close to ordering an aftermarket one for my bonny. One day I tried to turn it to reserve first--it got hard to turn, so I turned it back to off and then to the on position. To my surprise, it turned very easily to the on position. Since that day, after my bike has been sitting for a few days or in cold Wx, I always try to go to the reserve position first. It won't go there, but it seems the small pressure in that direction frees it up to go to the on position. Then again, maybe it's the miles (11400) that has worn it into submission. :-D

I was going to post a question earlier, but this seems the proper thread to ask:

Does everyone turn the petcock to off when not riding? Is so, why?
