For those of you who may not be familiar with it, the Rock Store is a biker hangout on Mulholland, in the canyons near L.A. On any given Saturday or Sunday it attracts several hundred bikes of all kinds. Today the weather was clear with temps in the 60's and a stiff breeze. These pics were taken at about 10 a.m., before the place gets packed.

Here's a view looking north:

There were not a few Triumphs in attendance, including a Thruxton belonging to a member of Brit Iron Rebels, a Bonny, and my own America:

Facing the Rock Store, sport bikes generally park to the left and cruisers to the right. But there are exceptions: Triumphs and BMWs park pretty much anywhere they like.

Sport bike, anyone?

Isn't is nice to be unique?

And one very strange Hyabusa:

All in all it was a great day for riding. I empathize with those who have had to put their bikes up for the winter; that's got to be tough.

Great photos.

Is that black bike the Thruxton? It looks like it has some raised bars on it and at first I would have guessed it was a cafed Bonnie. But the engine block coloring, pegs and pipes seem to make it a Thruxton.

You're exactly right, it's a cafed Thruxton.

And Rodburner is correct as well; the last pic is a naked Hyabusa. I'm sorry that pic didn't turn out clearer; it was quite a bike.

unfortuantly i forgot my camera, but spent the Fri Sat & Sun up on various bits of the Angeles Crest, today was the best up Osborne to the 14 (tight twisties) up into the desert then back Angeles Forest Hwy. Luckily I grabbed the winter gloves - it was ***** cold!! All in all tho I would have liked some picts of the empty highways, and the Suzuki crammed into the guard rail on Angeles Forest Hwy - luckly rider came out with couple broken bits, bike looks like a total loss. Saw another black bonnie as I was sipping coffee at Hidden Springs.

There are a couple of good bit of road up near the rock store, I think I need to make a trip west next weekend. Was Jay Leno hanging out with his rocket powered bike?

Thanks for the memories!! Great pics.
You ride single I see. My America has the short bar and rack for the wife to lean against.
Are the saddle bag support bars Triumph or did you get them after market some place else?
We had snow the day before Thanksgiving. My last ride was the 19th. Haven't given up yet but any riding here in the Midwest below 50 degress will bring frost bite. The temp isn't bad but the wind will cut through you.
Our RAT group put 45 pics from our ride the 19th Check out Indy Rat Racers photo album. There are quite a few pictures of my America.
Will be looking for more pics from you guys that have an endless riding season. keep the rubber side down!

Yes, I do ride single. My wife has her own hobbies (she's a gym rat, for example, while I'm long past deliberately exerting myself physically), which she pursues while I'm out riding.

The bag supports are part of the K-Drive system, which you can see on Brent's site, here:
http://www.newspeedmaster.com/html/s...nd_mounts.html

These bags work very well for me.

I'll check out your pics. While I saw a good number of Triumphs this weekend, I have yet to come across another America in my travels.

Philip --

Where are you located? I have an '05 Green/Silver America.

By the way, what pegs do you have on the bike? They look great.

I'm in Chatsworth, about 30 miles north of L.A.

The pegs are Kuryakyn Switchblades, available (with Triumph adapters) from their Web site. They have a heel rest that you can swing out with the toe of your boot while you're riding, giving the effect of floorboards, except you can put them out of the way in town or when not needed.

Here's a pic with the heel rest out:

Let me know if you have any questions.
